Mysterious | Ambiguous
The design concept of integrating mimetism of one’s experience in a rainforest into the spaces enigmatize the experience of visitors throughout the nature appreciation centre. The integration aims to draw closer relationship between the visitors and nature by cooperating architecture with nature to create mysterious feeling during exploration.
The partly exposed roof structure and its incorporation with trees mimetize the canopy system in a rain forest, where there’s layering, that could filter the intensity of the sunlight that allows small amount of sunlight to enter. The roof structure also allows rain to enter, which amplifies further the experience of a visitor being in a rainforest. The buildings use local materials such as timber, rammed earth, etc. to blend in with the surrounding context, especially the orang asli village replica.
